Click the 'Sign Up' button in the top-right corner. Fill in your email address, choose a secure password (at least 8 characters with a mix of letters and numbers), and submit. You'll receive a confirmation email; click the link inside to activate your account. You can also register using Google OAuth for a one-click sign-up experience.
Go to the login page and click 'Forgot password'. Enter the email address associated with your account. Within a few minutes, you'll receive an email with a secure reset link valid for 1 hour. Click it, set a new password, and you're back in. If you don't see the email, check your spam/junk folder.
Yes! Go to Settings > Profile and edit your display name. Your username (used in your profile URL) can also be changed once every 30 days. Note that your old profile URL will stop working after the change, so share the updated link with friends.
Navigate to Settings > Profile and click on your current avatar. Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image (max 5 MB). The image will be automatically resized and cropped to fit. Your new profile picture will appear across the site and in the community feed within seconds.
Go to Settings > Account > Danger Zone > Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm by typing your username. This action is irreversible: all your lists, reviews, posts, profile data, and statistics will be permanently erased. We recommend exporting your data first (Settings > Export).
Yes, MiraiTrack supports Google OAuth. On the login or registration page, click the 'Continue with Google' button. If it's your first time, an account will be created automatically using your Google email. If you already have an account with that email, it will be linked.
Two-factor authentication is planned for a future update. When available, you'll be able to enable TOTP-based 2FA (compatible with Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.) from your security settings. We'll announce it in our news feed.
There are several ways: (1) On any anime or manga page, click the 'Add to List' button and choose a status. (2) Use the search bar to find a title and click the + icon. (3) If you have our browser extension installed, you can add titles directly while browsing Crunchyroll, Netflix, or ADN.
MiraiTrack supports 6 statuses: Watching (currently watching), Completed (finished), Plan to Watch (want to see), On Hold (paused temporarily), Dropped (abandoned), and Rewatching (watching again). For manga, 'Watching' becomes 'Reading' and 'Rewatching' becomes 'Rereading'. You can switch between statuses at any time.
Absolutely! Go to Settings > Import/Export > Import. We support import from MyAnimeList (XML export), AniList (via API sync), and Kitsu. For MAL, export your list as XML from your MAL profile, then upload the file on MiraiTrack. For AniList, enter your AniList username and we'll sync automatically. The import process matches titles by ID and preserves your scores, statuses, and progress.
Go to Settings > Import/Export > Export. You can download your complete list data in JSON format (for backup or migration) or in MAL-compatible XML format (for importing into other platforms). The export includes all titles, statuses, scores, progress, dates, and notes.
Yes. On each anime in your list, you can set the number of episodes you've watched. Click the episode counter on the anime page or in your list view and increment/decrement as needed. The progress bar updates in real-time. For manga, you can track both chapters and volumes read.
MiraiTrack uses a 1-10 scoring scale. You can rate any anime or manga on its detail page or directly from your list. Your scores contribute to your personal statistics and help our recommendation algorithm suggest titles tailored to your taste. You can leave an entry unscored if you prefer.
Yes. When editing a list entry, you'll find a 'Notes' field where you can write personal reminders, thoughts, or details about where you stopped. These notes are private and only visible to you.
Duplicates should not occur because MiraiTrack enforces a unique constraint per user and title. If you notice what looks like duplicates, they may be different entries (e.g., a TV series and its movie). If you believe there's a genuine duplicate, please contact support with details and we'll investigate.
MiraiTrack uses a hybrid recommendation engine that combines collaborative filtering (what similar users enjoyed), content-based analysis (genre, themes, studio, tags), and your explicit feedback (thumbs up/down on suggestions). The algorithm weighs your watch history, scores, and engagement patterns to surface titles you're likely to enjoy. It improves over time as you interact with more content.
Three key actions: (1) Rate as many titles as possible, as scored entries give the algorithm stronger signals. (2) Use the thumbs up/down buttons on recommendation cards to teach the system your preferences. (3) Keep your list statuses accurate (mark dropped shows, update progress). The more data the engine has, the more personalized and accurate your suggestions become.
The Trending section shows anime and manga that are currently generating the most buzz on AniList, based on a combination of recently added list entries, scores, and community activity. It's updated in near real-time and reflects what the global anime community is watching right now.
Yes. Use the Browse page (/anime or /manga) to filter by genre (Action, Romance, Fantasy, etc.), season (Winter 2026, Spring 2026, etc.), format (TV, Movie, OVA, ONA), status (Airing, Finished), and sort by popularity, score, or release date. You can also search for titles by studio name.
The calendar shows upcoming episode air dates for currently airing anime. It's organized by day of the week and automatically adjusts to your local timezone. You can toggle to show only anime from your list, or view all airing titles. Data is sourced from AniList's airing schedule.
The extension automatically detects when you're watching anime on supported streaming platforms (Crunchyroll, Netflix, ADN, Wakanim, Disney+, Prime Video) and lets you update your MiraiTrack list without leaving the page. It shows your current progress, lets you increment episodes, change status, and rate, all from a convenient popup overlay.
The extension is built with Manifest V3 and works on Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi) and Firefox. You can download it from the /extension page on MiraiTrack. Installation is manual (developer mode) for now; web store listings are coming soon.
Visit the /extension page on MiraiTrack and download the extension ZIP for your browser. For Chrome: go to chrome://extensions, enable 'Developer mode', click 'Load unpacked', and select the extracted folder. For Firefox: go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox, click 'Load Temporary Add-on', and select the manifest.json file.
Make sure you're on a supported streaming platform and that the anime page has fully loaded. Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, check that the extension is enabled in your browser's extension settings and that you're logged in to MiraiTrack. Some platform redesigns may temporarily break detection; updates are pushed regularly to fix these.
No. The extension only activates on specific supported streaming websites and only reads the page title and URL to identify the anime. It does not track your general browsing history, does not inject ads, and does not share data with third parties. The source code is open-source and auditable.
Yes! On any anime or manga detail page, scroll to the 'Community' tab and click 'Write a Review'. Give a title, write your review (no character limit), rate the title from 1-10, and tag it as anime or manga. Your review will be visible to other users who can upvote or downvote it.
The news feed (/feed/news) aggregates platform announcements, anime industry news, and community posts marked as 'news' by moderators. It's separate from the general social feed where users share personal updates and thoughts about what they're watching.
Yes. Visit any user's profile and click the 'Follow' button. You'll see their activity in your social feed. You can manage your followers and following list from your profile page. Following is one-directional: the other person doesn't need to follow you back.
Yes. Each anime and manga detail page has a comments section at the bottom where you can share thoughts, ask questions, or discuss specific episodes. Comments support basic formatting and are moderated to keep discussions respectful.
Click the three-dot menu (⋯) on any post, review, or comment, then select 'Report'. Choose a reason (spam, harassment, spoilers, etc.) and optionally add details. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24-48 hours. Repeated offenders may be suspended.
When writing a review or comment, you can tag specific content as spoilers. Spoiler-tagged text is hidden behind a click-to-reveal overlay. We strongly encourage marking any plot revelations as spoilers. Reviews that contain untagged major spoilers may be flagged by the community.
We collect only what's necessary: your email address, username, and the data you voluntarily provide (profile picture, bio, anime/manga lists, reviews, and posts). We do not sell your data, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it for profiling outside of our recommendation engine. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Yes. Go to Settings > Privacy and toggle 'Private Profile'. When enabled, only you can see your lists, statistics, and activity. Your profile page will show a minimal view to other users. You can also set specific sections (lists, stats, activity) to private individually.
We use essential cookies for authentication (session management) and a preference cookie for your language/theme settings. We do not use tracking cookies. Third-party ad services (Google AdSense) may set their own cookies according to their policies; you can manage these through your browser settings.
Your password is hashed using bcrypt with a unique salt before being stored. We never store passwords in plain text. Even our database administrators cannot see your actual password. We recommend using a unique, strong password for your MiraiTrack account.
Yes. Under Settings > Import/Export > Export, you can download a complete archive of your data in JSON format, including your profile information, lists, reviews, posts, and settings. This complies with data portability principles.
MiraiTrack generates detailed analytics from your list data: total time spent watching, average score, score distribution, genre breakdown (pie chart), format distribution, completion rate, titles per status, monthly activity trends, and more. All statistics update in real-time when you modify your lists.
We multiply the number of episodes you've watched by the average episode duration (from AniList data). For movies, the full duration is used. If episode duration data is unavailable, we default to 24 minutes (standard anime episode length). Only episodes marked as watched count toward the total.
Yes. Your profile's Statistics section includes interactive charts: a genre radar chart showing your distribution across genres, a bar chart for score distribution, and trend lines for your watching activity over time. These visualizations help you understand your tastes and discover patterns.
By default, your statistics are visible on your public profile. If you prefer privacy, go to Settings > Privacy and toggle statistics visibility off. Other users will then see your profile without the statistics section.
MiraiTrack is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works flawlessly on mobile browsers. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience: on Chrome, tap the menu > 'Add to home screen'; on Safari, tap the share icon > 'Add to Home Screen'. A native mobile app is on our long-term roadmap.
MiraiTrack uses the AniList GraphQL API as its primary data source. AniList provides comprehensive, community-maintained information on over 20,000 anime and 100,000 manga titles, including synopses, cover art, airing schedules, cast lists, studio information, genres, and community scores. Data is cached locally and refreshed periodically.
Yes, MiraiTrack is completely free. All core features (list management, statistics, recommendations, reviews, community features, and the browser extension) are available at no cost. We may introduce optional premium features in the future (ad-free experience, custom themes, advanced analytics), but the core platform will always remain free.
Try these steps: (1) Clear your browser cache and cookies for the site. (2) Disable browser extensions that might interfere. (3) Check your internet connection. (4) Try a different browser. If the issue persists, it may be a server-side problem; check our status page or report it via /contact. We use CDN caching and image optimization to ensure fast load times globally.
Thank you for helping us improve! You can report bugs via: (1) The /contact page with a detailed description. (2) Our Discord community in the #bugs channel. (3) GitHub Issues on our repository. Please include your browser name/version, device type, and steps to reproduce the issue. Screenshots or screen recordings are very helpful.
Our database is powered by AniList, which covers the vast majority of officially released anime and manga. If a title is missing, it may be too new, too obscure, or not yet added to AniList's database. You can request additions on AniList.co, and they'll appear on MiraiTrack once approved.
Yes! MiraiTrack currently supports English, French, and Japanese. You can switch languages from the footer or Settings > Preferences. Anime titles are displayed in your preferred language when available (English or Romaji). We're planning to add more languages based on community demand.
MiraiTrack is built with a modern tech stack: the frontend uses Next.js (React) with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, the backend runs on PHP 8.4 with a MySQL database, and the browser extension uses TypeScript with Manifest V3. We use Nginx as our reverse proxy and PM2 for process management.
Parts of MiraiTrack are open-source, including the browser extension. The full codebase is hosted on GitHub. We welcome contributions via pull requests, especially for translations, bug fixes, and feature suggestions. Check our GitHub repository for contribution guidelines.
Our Blog features in-depth editorial articles (called 'Dossiers') written by the MiraiTrack team. These cover topics like anime studio histories, beginner guides, industry analysis, seasonal recommendations, and cultural deep-dives. Each article is thoroughly researched and typically 2,000-3,000 words long. Visit /blog to browse all articles.
We aim to publish new dossiers and news articles regularly. Industry news is updated as events happen (new anime announcements, streaming platform changes, etc.). Dossier articles are published monthly. The seasonal anime calendar and trending sections update automatically in real-time.
Absolutely! We love hearing from the community. Drop your suggestions via the /contact page or in our Discord. Popular requests like studio profiles, genre guides, or comparison pieces are prioritized. If you're an experienced writer and want to contribute, reach out, as we may feature guest articles in the future.
Yes, for many popular titles we've written unique editorial synopses that go beyond simple plot summaries. These descriptions provide context about what makes each anime or manga special: its themes, studio, cultural impact, and why it's worth watching. For titles without custom descriptions, we display the AniList community synopsis.
We're considering optional premium features for the future, such as an ad-free experience, custom profile themes, advanced analytics dashboards, and priority support. However, all current core features (list management, recommendations, community, and the extension) will always remain free.
MiraiTrack is sustained through non-intrusive display advertising (Google AdSense). We do not sell user data, do not gate core features behind paywalls, and do not use affiliate links that could bias our recommendations. Future premium subscriptions may provide additional revenue to support development.
Our roadmap includes: native mobile apps (iOS & Android), advanced recommendation AI, manga reading progress sync, social features expansion (clubs, group watchlists, watch parties), two-factor authentication, custom themes, dark/light mode toggle, notification system, and API access for third-party developers. Follow our news feed for announcements.
